Lidl Exeter Regional Distribution Centre

Introduction

When supermarket chain Lidl confirmed Winvic as their Main Contractor for the construction of their new Regional Distribution Centre in Exeter, Quality Marking Services were ideally situated to be employed as the preferred line marking contractor on the project.

The extensive project included approximately 30,000 metres of internal and external markings together with external decorative surfacing and internal floor coating. With the diverse range of products within the portfolio offered by QMS, we are able to fully deliver all of the requirements, on time and to the highest quality.

The internal markings were specified to be installed using WareHouseUV, an extremely durable line marking system which is completely VOC free (volatile organic compounds) and is instantly cured using Ultra-Violet technology. The system, provided with a FIVE YEAR guarantee, was installed to a fully prepared surface using specialist equipment by our trained and qualified workforce who carry an NVQ level 2 or 3 together with SSSTS orSMSTS qualification for site safety.

Methyl Methacrylate (MMA)

The external marking requirement was specified as being Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) cold plastic for enhanced durability on concrete surfaces together with Thermoplastic and Preformed Thermoplastic on the bituminous substrates. This combination of materials ensured the most suitable solution for the end user who operate 24 hours per day with multiple vehicle movements, testing the markings to the limits within the 24 month guarantee period.

Inside the warehouse, a suitable epoxy floor coating was required within the workshop and maintenance areas. Addaflor Industrial Epoxy was selected and installed by our skilled team of installers to the substrate which was prepared in advance using vacuum recovered triple-head floor grinders.

To finish the project, decorative resin bound aggregate was chosen for the surface leading to the main entrance of the distribution centre. As approved installers of a number of systems, QMS were able to offer the complete range to the client who selected a two-tone DekorGrip surface treatment.

The project was completed within twelve-weeks as required and was fully operational in December 2017.

There has been a couple of crews doing the lining and antiskid works local to me on the new surfacing project on Callington road, Tavistock and the quality of work is spot on. Its done nothing but rain here for the last 2 months and as someone who spent over 25 years lining I can appreciate what they`ve been up against, especially with anti skid and MMA lining materials.
