SUEZ Cornwall | Internal Line Marking

The Client

SUEZ Cornwall operates a vital Energy Recovery Centre (ERC) built with the primary purpose of reducing the volume of waste sent to landfill. The centre manages household waste generated daily across the county, focusing first on reduction, re-use, recycling, and composting. Any remaining waste is converted into energy, generating enough electricity to power 21,000 homes.

The Problem

SUEZ Cornwall approached QMS when they wanted to improve health and safety in the first stage of their operations. They wanted to make the seven tipping bays safer and easier for their drivers to use. The main issue they faced was visibility: drivers found it hard to see the bay lines clearly in their mirrors, making it tricky and slow to reverse their big trailers safely. On top of that, they worried about their team slipping and falling when the working area behind the trailers got wet, which was a serious safety risk.

The Solution

Coordinating closely with the SUEZ Cornwall team, we implemented an integrated safety package. We extended the white tipping bay lines and installed specialist, high-performance, gripped walkways onto each tipping bay. Anti-slip material was also applied to different colour hatched areas and immediately in front of the bay gates.

The Result

The project resulted in more confident drivers and a lasting result, installed at a high standard by our team of experts. QMS understood the client’s complex operational needs and the minimal downtime required, and delivered what was needed with all the correct specifications. The durable Methyl Methacrylate (MMA), UV-cured internal markings and anti-slip products lasted just over three years and have recently been successfully re-done.

“The quality of work is of a high standard, and communication with Dean, Liam and Shaun is excellent — they understand what we need and why, QMS deliver what they promise and are easy to work with regarding specific site requirements.”
