Fairway to Devon 2026: Our Best Year on the Green

22 July 2026 Virginia Scheuerle

Fairway to Devon returned to Dainton Park Golf Club on Friday 17th July for its 8th year, and it turned into the best one we’ve run yet. 20 teams took to the course in the sun for a shotgun start, and by the end of the day the event had raised £8,317.40 for Hospiscare, the highest total in the event’s history.

That figure is worth sitting with for a second. It’s the equivalent of 7 days of round-the-clock inpatient care for a patient AND 20 hours of a specialist nurse visiting someone at home when they need it most. Numbers like that are exactly why we keep bringing this event back year after year.

Greg Clark welcomed everyone alongside the wider QMS team before handing over to Georgia from Hospiscare, who gave a speech that stayed with people long after she’d finished. She spoke about what the charity does day to day, and her message to everyone was simple: live. Get out and enjoy the day ahead, and know that in a few weeks someone will feel the direct benefit of whatever is raised at this event.

And live it up they did. Out on the course, teams were treated to pasties and drinks courtesy of St Austell Brewery. What nobody realised was that David Edwards had been quietly filming and recording commentary as he went, footage that got played back once everyone sat down for lunch and caught plenty of players completely off guard.

His trick show followed after lunch, pulling the whole group outside to watch shots that left people shaking their heads in disbelief.

Tasha’s Karaoke Klassics kept the mic busy on the 15th all day, with players singing for their swing and entering a raffle to win a signed 25/26 Exeter Chiefs shirt. Ethan Roots, Exeter Chiefs back-rower, joined us to present the prize in person, and a signed Exeter Chiefs ball went under the hammer later in the auction.

This year we gave the prize table a twist. Rather than the usual leaderboard, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place positions were chosen differently, with the new placings picked out by Georgia herself. It meant nobody could count themselves out early, and it felt like exactly the right way to run a day that’s ultimately about giving everyone a chance.

Massive congratulations to our winners on the day:
