Brixham Rugby U14’s X Exeter Chiefs Ethan Roots

27 November 2025 Virginia Scheuerle

On November 22nd, we brought 20 young players from Brixham Rugby Club’s U14s squad, along with 10 parents and coaches, to Sandy Park to watch the massive clash. Exeter Chiefs took on Bristol Bears and secured a tense 22-17 victory in front of a passionate Devon crowd, but for our special group from Brixham, the real highlight came after the final whistle.

A Moment of Pure Inspiration with Ethan Roots from Exeter Chiefs.

As part of our sponsorship of Exeter Chiefs player Ethan Roots, we arranged for the entire group to meet him after the match. For these young players from our local South West community, it was a genuine, face-to-face moment of inspiration. They got to spend time with a Premiership professional, take photos, and walk away with signed merch.

The buzz was immense. One parent from Brixham captured the feeling perfectly:

“What a fantastic day. Proud to spend it with the boys from Brixham at Exeter Chiefs. A huge thank you to QMS Ltd for sponsoring the team and putting smiles on all of these lads’ faces. your support truly makes a difference.”

It wasn’t just the kids who were buzzing. The parents’ group chat was flowing non-stop with photos and messages from chuffed mums and dads, all delighted to see the team having such a memorable time.

The Lines That Connect Us. QMS and Grassroots Rugby.

At QMS, we’ve built our reputation on precision line marking and professional sports surface treatments across the South West. We work on rugby pitches, football fields, and sports facilities throughout Devon and beyond, but our connection to the game goes deeper than the technical work we deliver.

Our partnership with Exeter Chiefs and our sponsorship of Ethan Roots this year represent our commitment to supporting both professional and grassroots rugby. We also proudly sponsor Brixham Rugby Club’s U14s, helping fund their development and giving these young athletes opportunities they might not otherwise have.

When a 13-year-old gets to meet a professional rugby player at Sandy Park, shake their hand, and realise that pathway exists for them too, that’s powerful motivation. These are the moments that truly inspire the next generation of South West rugby talent.

Investing in Community. The Power of Local Sponsorship.

This event was organised by Tom Wilkins, Exeter Chiefs’ Corporate Account Manager, alongside our own team members Greg Clark and Natasha Cummings. The goal was to give the Brixham team a truly memorable day out and show them what’s possible if they keep working hard at their rugby.

Watching their reactions after meeting Ethan, we know we achieved that goal. For many of them, this will be a memory they carry with them. Not just of watching Premiership rugby at Sandy Park, but of the moment they met a professional player and realised their rugby dreams might be within reach.

We’re hopeful this is just the first of many events like this. Supporting youth rugby and grassroots sport in Devon isn’t just good for business. It’s about investing in our community and the young people who represent its future.
