We recently did something a little different. We completed a line marking installation at a BMX track down in Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset.
Greg Clark and Will Clarke go back a fair few years, the two of them having worked together at Ringway before staying in touch at various industry events over the years. So, when Will got in touch to see if we could help out at a charity project, it was a pretty easy conversation.
Will is chairman of Burnham BMX Club and has been putting in serious work alongside his volunteer team to modernise the facility. He asked if we could come and put the finishing touches on their new berms, and we were happy to help.
About Burnham BMX Club
Burnham BMX Club is a registered charity based at Apex Park, run entirely by people who simply love the sport. They open their gates to everyone, from kids wobbling on their first bikes to seasoned racers. What’s most impressive is the impact they’re having on their local community, providing a high-quality outlet in an area of deprivation.
Their berm project has been years in the making combining grants, fundraising, and a huge amount of time given freely by the people who run the club. At £65,000 it’s a massive achievement for a volunteer-led charity, and the whole committee deserves a lot of credit for getting it done.
BMX is an Olympic sport, and this club is giving their community a proper facility to enjoy it. If you ever find yourself in Somerset, head over to Apex Park and check them out.
