By equipping our workforce with quick access to an AED in their vehicles we are taking a proactive step to ensure the safety and well-being of our team and the community. These life-saving devices can make a critical difference in saving the life of a fellow member of the team and just as easily a member of the public in the tragic event of a cardiac arrest.
We have invested in a further 5 CellAED® taking us to a total of 7 units installed in our site vehicles. CellAED® is a handheld automated external defibrillator (AED) which is for use with CPR in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest.
We were shocked that around the world, approximately 16,500 people pass away from sudden cardiac arrest every day due to delayed access to a defibrillator. We wanted to join and support Donovan Casey, founder of CellAED®, with his vision to place an AED in every home, workplace and community around the world. Our employees knowing how to use an AED unit alongside CPR is a useful life-saving skill for being on-site and working and throughout their lives. We hope that with these trainings combined, our staff will be able to approach and handle, if an event of a cardiac arrest happens, much easier and more calmly.
Working in remote locations across the South-West and beyond could potentially mean our crew having to wait longer for emergency assistance which is why not only is every member of staff emergency first aid trained but will now have access to a CellAED®.
Cardiac arrests do not have an age restriction or lifestyle restriction, and with every minute crucial to saving a life, an AED was an essential piece of kit for QMS.
This investment is the only investment we hope we never need to use but is worth every penny!
