What is QMS doing for Devon County Council?

QMS has been working closely with Devon County Council to remove thermoplastic line markings and replace them with cold-applied systems (MMA) amongst others, one of the schemes covers junction markings. MMA other than being a cold applied product offers large environmental benefits compared to thermoplastic line markings, reducing the amount of CO2 being pumped into the atmosphere on application and lasting up to five times longer.

Our QMS superstars have been out installing the markings from a small van with our bespoke traffic management vehicles to ensure as little disruption as possible to the public.

Joining forces with Devon County Council to improve sustainability and reduce the amount of microplastics in our beautiful oceans is something we are very passionate about. Sustainability is important to us at QMS and is something we take very seriously and have the awards to prove it!

QMS was awarded the ‘Winners of the Sustainability Superstar Awards 2023’ at The Notty’s awards. We were also finalists for ‘The Highways Sustainability and Safety Enhancements’ awards by reducing CO2 by 286.1 tonnes during the three-year period for Egis.

Why are cold-applied systems better than thermoplastic for sustainability?

Removing thermoplastic line markings and replacing them with cold-applied MMA is not only one of the best environmentally friendly options but will reduce the need to revisit the area due to its durable and long-lasting benefits.

Thanks to the well-trained, fast, and efficient, staff at QMS the installation time is reduced meaning we can deliver the work with little disruption and impact to you, your customer, and your staff!

You would think with all the amazing benefits you would have to compromise on price, However, that is not the case here at QMS! The whole-life cost of the road markings is lower than other hot-applied road marking systems!

There has been a couple of crews doing the lining and antiskid works local to me on the new surfacing project on Callington road, Tavistock and the quality of work is spot on. Its done nothing but rain here for the last 2 months and as someone who spent over 25 years lining I can appreciate what they`ve been up against, especially with anti skid and MMA lining materials.
