Safety and Well-being shut down

Recently, we invested in what matters most to our success: our people. For two full days, we brought together all members of the QMS family for our annual Safety and well-being stand down.

Safety and well-being stand down 2025

Looking Back, Moving Forward

We kicked off the stand down with a deep dive into the business. We spent the day evaluating the past year, celebrating our team’s hard work with some fancy awards, and revealing some exciting plans for the future.

We celebrated a fantastic milestone, a full year of zero environmental incidents. This is a huge accomplishment and a testament to the hard work and dedication of every single person on our team. It also shows our commitment to our ISO certifications and our promise to operate in the most responsible way possible.

It is crucial to get everyone’s input, and social anxiety is a real thing. To make sure every team member felt comfortable asking questions, we used Mentimeter. This tool let the staff ask questions and engage anonymously, which led to a much more open and honest discussion.

To give everyone a true behind-the-scenes look at the business, we structured the day to follow our entire process, from estimating and programming to planning. Each department explained what they do and what’s next for them, giving the whole team a deeper understanding of how we all fit together.

As part of our team building, we tackled a different type of challenge at the Notworking Networking Business Games. This was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to step outside their comfort zones and work together as a team. All 3 teams threw themselves into every challenge and we all had to agree the ‘bonkers game zone’ lived up to its name and put everyone’s skills to the test.

We saw first-hand how we truly are stronger together. The Tug of War was a fantastic example, with everyone pulling their weight and cheering each other on. But perhaps the most telling moment of the day was over lunch. Instead of just taking a seat after grabbing a bite, some of our team members teamed up with IT Champion to spontaneously set up a five-a-side football match. It was a great display of our friendly and collaborative nature, and a reminder that teamwork is something we carry with us everywhere we go.

Don’t worry – we’re back, refreshed, and ready to get to work!!
