After the 100 advent calendars were distributed to the families in Torbay through HITS and PATH and hearing how much of an impact it had on on the lives of others, it motivated the team to get their heads together and and see what else they could do to support our local communities over this Christmas period.
QMS has always thrived off giving our customers an experience that is better than they expected and we have tried to share that ethos and passion with our team, local communities as well as customers.
Christmas, along with joy and cheer can also bring anxiety and hardship for lots of people all over the UK, especially those living in food poverty, which is why the teams have decided to give up their Christmas treats to help where they could.
See-ya Santa
Secret Santa was off the cards this year for the management team at QMS, rather than wasting their money on buying novelty gifts that end up in the bottom of the office draw, the team clubbed together and put all of the Secret Santa money into a pot and provide present boxes for children.
The money raised was used to provide toys and essentials like tooth brushes, pyjamas, and of course, socks for children across Torbay that do not have the luxury of opening bundles of presents on Christmas day.
The boxes are put together based on ages and blue or pink paper and handed out with food parcels by the amazing team at PATH to those that really need the help.
Our Commercial Manager Liam Mead said, “It is really nice to see that the money we would normally waste on the Secret Santa gifts has gone to a more deserving purpose and I hope that my small contribution among the other really makes a difference to a child in the local area this Christmas.”
Topping up the Food Banks
The two food elves have been back out on the road, sweeping up the deals and delivering the the two local food banks.
The guys decided that this year there would be no Christmas party because the money would be better spent elsewhere the team decided that they would rather spend the money on helping others that are less fortunate and supporting local families.
The team all clubbed together and managed to raise a nice £220 for the food banks. It was put forward by MD Greg Clark that any money raised, he would double, which took the total to £440! On top of this we had an incredible donation from Rodgers Garage of £100 so the guys had £540!
A massive thank you to all that have donated, it really does make a difference.
